On 26 October 2021, H.E. Mr. Kiptiness Lindsay Kimwole, Kenyan Ambassador to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), upon his assumption of duty.

The Ambassador extended his gratitude to Thailand in providing vaccinations for the diplomatic missions in Thailand and expressed his apprreciation to Thailand’s development cooperation to Kenya particularly the project on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Promotion as well as training fellowships.  He wished that the bilateral development cooperation between Thailand and Kenya can be further extended to Kenya’s capacity building on marine fishing, coffee production and an application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) for sustainable development in Kenya. 

Director-General expressed Thailand’s readyness to further promote development cooperation with Kenya in needed areas for development.  She raised a possible technical cooperation on Thaland-Kenya Sustainable Agro-technologies Development Project and SEP Learning Centre at the Kenya School of Agriculture recently proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives of Kenya through the Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi, which can include train the trainers on marine fishing.  She also encouraged Kenya’s nomination towards TICA’s annual fellowship programme both the Annual International Training Courses (AITC) and Thailand International Postgraduate Programme (TIPP). She confirmed TICA’s commitment to conduct the trainings on Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability for CARD (Coalition for African Rice Development) member countries including Kenya, organized by Kamphaengsaen Campus, Kasetsart University, tentatively in 2022, under Trilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Japan as another form of development cooperation provided to Africa.

Both sides agreed to visit Kenyan Master’s and Doctorial degree scholarship awardees studying at Mahidol University under the Thailand – Kenya Technical Cooperation Project on UHC Promotion, and to observe the Traning Programme on Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability for CARD (Coalition for African Rice Development) member countries tentatively in 2022.
