On 16 May 2023, at 09:30 hrs, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), delivered the welcoming remarks at the seminar entitled "Learning Exchange about Thailand's Act for Prevention and Solution of the Adolescent Pregnancy Problem (B.E. 2559)". This project is part of the South-South and triangular cooperation (SSTC) between TICA and the United Nations. The seminar was held at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World. Mrs. Gita Sabharwal, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand, also delivered an opening remarks on behalf of the United Nations and UNFPA.

The Director-General welcomed the 20 participants from ASEAN member countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand. The Director-General stressed that the issue of adolescent pregnancy is one of the causes of early maternal and child mortality in many countries in the region. In addition, Adolescent pregnancy also stretches the resources in the public health system, straining the economy and society, making it harder for countries to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, it is essential for various sectors, including the public sector, private sector, families, schools, healthcare and medical services, and communities, to actively participate in finding creative solutions to address this issue together.
