On 2 July 2021, H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, co-chaired by H.E. Ms. Esra Cankorur, Ambassador,  Director-General for Asia and the Pacific of Turkey, hosted the 5th Thai – Turkey Political Consultations and welcomed all delegations including Mr. Wattanawit Gajaseni, Deputy-Director General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) via video conference at 14.00- 18.00 hrs.

During the 5th Thai- Turkey Political Consultations, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and exchanged views on emerging challenges, for instance, the COVID-19 pandemics and the fast changing geopolitical landscape, collaboration through existing mechanisms, including the Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation to reinforce partnership for the mutual benefit of the two countries.  For Development Cooperation between Thailand and Turkey, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency or TIKA and Thailand International Cooperation Agency or TICA highlighted several important issues especially  Development Cooperation Sector between Thailand and Turkey and a signing of

the Memorandum of Understanding between TIKA and TICA.  It was agreed that TIKA would propose a draft MoU for TICA’s consideration, then both sides would have a further details discussion via a virtual meeting soon.

Besides, both sides will continue in reviewing the other pending draft agreements which have been negotiated in the past and will conclude in some sector before the High- Level Meeting Visit to Turkey in September this year.
