On 11 October 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) attended the Brainstorming meeting on Triangular Co-operation with Latin America and the Caribbean and Asia-Pacific, organized by the Global Partnership Initiative on Effective Triangular Co-operation, in cooperation with GIZ and OCED in Lisbon.

Upon invitation by the hosts, the Director-General delivered remarks during the second session of the meeting titled “Untapped opportunities for triangular co-operation with Latin America and Asian partners”. She shared insightful experiences of TICA’s triangular cooperation with development partners in many countries around the world. She also shared with the meeting that TICA is working closely with 5 countries in those region namely Chile, Peru, Argentina, Colombia and Cuba in various areas such as sustainable agricultural, public health, community-based tourism and science and technology. The Director-General welcomed other interested Latin American and the Caribbean countries to have further discussion for potential development cooperation with Thailand in the future.

Moreover, the Director-General of TICA participated in the breakout group exchanging views and ideas on best practices to promote triangular cooperation among participants from Latin American and Asian regions.

After the meeting, the Director-General attended the networking event where she met and discussed with key representatives from international development cooperation agency of other countries including Portugal, Costa Rica and Japan, as well as Ms. Dima Al-Khatib, the Director of the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), and Ms. Pilar Garrido, the Director of the Development Co-operation Directorate, OECD.
