On 1-4 December 2024, the Royal Project Foundation together with Highland Research and Development Institute (Public Organization) (HRDI) organize the Royal Project International Conference on “From Alternative Development (AD) to Sustainable Development Goals: Empowering the AD to Address the Global Challenges” at Royal Park Rajapruek, Chiang Mai to commemerate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Rama X’s 72nd Birthday Anniversary, to publicize his royal wish to continue, preserve, and build upon the rayal legacy of the His Majesty King Rama IX The Great, as well as, to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the Royal Project and 15th of the HRDI.

On 1 December 2024, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the queen presided over the Opening Ceremony of the International Conference and the Royal Project 2024 event. On this occasion, the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including the Permanent Secretary, Director-General of the Department of Protocol, Director-General of the International Organisations, Deputy Director-General, Acting Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Deputy Director-General of the Department of Protocol, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information are in the Royal Audience.

On 2 December 2024, Mrs. Pimwadee Sovaratanapong, Deputy Director-General, Acting Director-General of TICA was one of the keynote speakers on “Joint efforsts on Knowledge and Best Practices Sharing to Achieve Sustainable Development” and on 3 December 2024 Mrs. Pimwadee and the officials from TICA, the Department of International Organisations and the Department of Information joined a study visit to the Le Tor Royal Development Center,Tak province. This center is the first development center established during the Reign of His Majesty King Rama X. Then Mrs. Pimwadee and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the closing ceremony of the International Conference on 4 December 2024. This conference was attended in-person by a variety of participants, including delegates from governments, farmers, experts academics, and practitioners around 450 participants and open online channel for interested participants. The result of the conference will be later submited to the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) in Vienna, Austria, in March 2025.
