On 19 May 2022, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), co-chaired TICA-JICA Meeting on Technical Cooperation JFY 2022/2023 with Mr. MORITA Takahiro, Chief Representative at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Thailand Office to discuss development cooperation between Thailand and Japan during Japan Fiscal Year 2022/2023. Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General of TICA, Mr. GOTO Fumihiko, Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to ESCAP, Embassy of Japan in Thailand and Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division, were also present at the meeting.

Both sides reiterated long-standing partnership in development cooperation, and emphasized sectors of cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including 4 Securities (4S) which are the TICA’s priority areas for the post-COVID-19 social and economic recovery consisting of Health Security, Job Security, Food Security, and Energy and Environment Security. They also agreed that Connectivity, Preparation for Aging Society, Climate Change, Human Resource Development, are among issues that cooperation should be focused on.

Furthermore, Director-General emphasized the importance of strengthening trilateral and sub-regional cooperation particularly in Human Resource Development under ACMECS Pillar 3 “Smart and Sustainable ACMECS”.

The meeting also acknowledged the progress of the Needs Survey for Technical Cooperation under Japan Fiscal Year 2022/2023. They also discussed the preparation of TICA-JICA Partnership Arrangement as a cooperation framework, and the upcoming annual meeting under Japan-Thailand Partnership Programme 3 (JTPP3) which is scheduled to be held by the middle of 2022.
