The Thai delegation comprising of H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka, and the delegation’s counsellor, Ms. Angsana Sihapitak, Deputy Director – General of TICA, as the leader, and Ms. Jiraporn Unkasem, Development Cooperation Officer, attended the 44th Consultative Committee Meeting (CCM) which was held during 8-10 September 2014, at the Crowne Plaza Kathmandu-Soaltee Hotel, Nepal.
The 44th CCM was attended by delegates from 27 member countries. The CCM is the biannual meeting to follow-up the progress of the programmes implemented under the Colombo Plan during 2012-2014, and focuses on cooperation among member countries in economic and social development, and in planning of the next two years work plan (2014-2016). The five programmes implemented under the Colombo plan are (1) the Drug Advisory Programme (DAP), (2) International Centre for Certification & Education of Addiction Programme for Public Administration & Environment (PPA/ENV.), (3) Gender Affairs Programme (GAP), (4) Programme for Private Sector Development (PPSD), and (5) Colombo Plan Staff College (PCSC).
The overall result of the programmes have been progressed especially in the Drug Advisory Programme (DAP) which is funded by the United States Government to implement projects related to drug by setting up an office in Afghanistan. On this occasion, member countries proposed plan for various activities to be conducted under the Drug Programme. Thailand also proposed to organize two training courses per year for member countries in Community Based Rural Development during 2014 – 2016 with cost-sharing basis with the Colombo Plan. The 45th CCM will be held in Fiji in 2016.
