On 14 March 2025, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed and had a discussion with Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Chief Executive Officer of the Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS CEO), at Meeting Room 2 of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA).
The two sides discussed opportunities for development cooperation between TICA and the MRC to improve the well-being of communities in the Lower Mekong region, with a focus on shared priorities such as water resource management, satellite flood forecasting, transboundary haze, and capacity building through expert exchanges.
Established in 1995 through the Mekong Agreement among Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam, the MRC, an intergovernmental organization, facilitates regional dialogue and cooperation to achieve sustainable development in the Lower Mekong River Basin. It also serves as a platform for water diplomacy and a knowledge hub for sustainable water resource management.
