On 29 - 30 January 2024, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), together with Senior Colonel Dr. Saranyu Viriyawetkul, Deputy Director of Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), led a Thai mission comprising officials from Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), Sisaket Provincial Public Health Office, Phusing Hospital, and Thai-Cambodian Border Coordination Unit, to assess the needs for capacity building of the Anlong Veng Hospital. The Thai mission met and discussed with the Cambodian officials including (1) Mr. Nguon Thirith, Anlongveng District Chief (2) Mr. Muon Nara, Vice-Director of Oddar Meanchey Provincial Public Health Office (3) Mr. Nov Sam On, Head of the Anlong Veng Operational District Office and (4) Mr. Seng Samath, Director of Anlongveng Hospital and Hospital medical team.
This visit was aimed to assess the needs for capacity building of the Anlong Veng Hospital, especially the renovation of emergency room (ER), medical equipment, and human resource development (HRD) in accordance to the Add on principle to ensure tangible impact to the existing project. This activity is a part of public health cooperation project under the TICA-NEDA integrated cooperation plan in providing Financial Assistance (FA) and Technical Assitance (TA) to the neighboring countries. On this occasion, all stakeholders took the opportunity to visit other development projects such as the Project for Improvement of the National Road No. 67 (NR67), linking from Siem Riep to Anlong Veng and Choam/Sa Ngam and also the Sisaket - Oddar Meancheay Twin Hospital Development Project, the project under the Thailand-Cambodia Development Cooperation Plan on Public Health (Phase 2). In addtion, TICA organised a workshop to discuss way forward regarding information sharing and mechanisms/channels for further coordination with officials from NEDA, Sisaket Provincial Public Health Office, and Phu Sing Hospital.
