On 8 April 2025, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) had a meeting with Mr. Toru Kajiwara, Minister, Embassy of Japan in Thailand at Meeting Room 2, TICA office. Also present included Ms. Chidchanok Malayawong, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division, Mrs. Penpitcha Thammasith Boonloy, First Secretary, and Mr. Yudai Aoyagi, Researcher/Advisor at the Embassy of Japan in Thailand.

Deputy Director-General of TICA explored a possibility of Thailand-Japan technical cooperation on disaster preparedness and management, which is in line with the Government’s policy to boost Thailand’s capacity in disaster management. She also wished for a cooperation that aims to build capacity of Thai relevant agencies in preventing and handling disaster, as well as to raise awareness among the public, and suggested an initial step in co-hosting a workshop to disseminate Japan's good practices. The Minister expressed Japan’s readiness to cooperate with the Thai side on the basis of close bilateral relations.
