The purpose is to follow up on the implementation of the Buenos Aires Plan of Action (BAPA) for Promoting and Implementing Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries, which was adopted in 1978. The meeting also serves as a platform to review progress, explore ways to strengthen cooperation among developing countries, and discuss the United Nations’s role in supporting sustainable development through South-South cooperation, particularly by promoting the role of science, technology, and innovation, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).
On this occasion, the Director-General of TICA delivered a Country Statement during the General Debate which highlighted 3 key points (1) Thailand is committed to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development particularly via South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) through TICA (2) Thailand places strong emphasis on promoting the use of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) as a key driver of development cooperation. The country also encourages all partners to make full use of platforms such as the South-South Galaxy and the South-South Cooperation Connector as channels for exchanging knowledge, best practices, and successful project outcomes. These efforts aim to enhance effective and sustainable cooperation among developing countries, and (3) Thailand reaffirms its strong commitment to promoting South-South and Triangular Cooperation based on mutual trust, shared vision, and mutual respect.
