On May 31, 2022, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed Mr. Ovikuroma Orogun Djebah, Nigerian Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Mohammed Idris Haidara, Minister, and Mrs. Sonari Martha Uraih, First Secretary, on the occasion of  the Ambassador’s assumption of duty.  The Director of the Development Promotion and Coordination Division and TICA staff also attended the meeting.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to Thailand’s technical assistance and South-South Cooperation through Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) especially scholarships extended to Nigeria. The Director-General re-affirmed Thailand’s support to Nigeria’s capacity building and human resources development through TICA’s Annual International Training Course (AITC) and Thailand International Postgraduate Programme (TIPP)  in 2023.  She also suggested a trip to observe the Traning Programme on Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability for CARD (Coalition for African Rice Development) member countries including Nigeria, which would be co-sponsored by TICA and JICA, and organized by Kamphaengsaen Campus, Kasetsart University in September 2022.  Besides, the Director-General suggested a possibility to share knowledge and technology in common areas such as agriculture under the Trilateral Cooperation where Thailand can dispatch Thai experts to the existing development project implemented by other development partners in Nigeria.

On this occasion, the Ambassador extended the invitation to Director – General for the “Nigeria Investnment Forum” organised by the Nigerian Embassy in August 2022 as part of the  commemoration of the 60^th year of Thailand - Nigeria Diplomatic Relations while the Director – General invited the Ambassador to join the Global South-South Development (GSSD) Expo 2022 co-conduced by TICA, UNOSSC and UNESCAP between 12 – 14 September 2022 in Bangkok.
