On April 3, 2025, Mr.  Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Mr. Periasamy Kumaran, Secretary (East), the Ministry of External Affairs of India, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region of the Republic of India.

The exchange was witnessed by H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand, and H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, at the Santi Maitree Building, Government House.

The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration in the development of the handloom and hadicraft sectors through technical cooperation, joint workshops, research, and the exchange of artisans and professionals in related fields.  Additionally, it aims to strengthen relation between Thailand and India’s northeastern region while promoting inclusive economic growth and community participation in artisanal crafts.
