On 20 June 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) welcomed Mr. Agostinho André de Carvalho Fernandes, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Thailand, with residence in Hanoi. Ms. Chidchanok Malayawong, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division as well as staff from TICA and the Embassy of Angola to Thailand were also present at the meeting.
The Angolan Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Director-General of TICA for the meeting. He expressed an interest in seeking Thailand’s development assistance particularly in terms of human resource development to Angola in needed areas for Angolan development including information technology, public health, sustainable agriculture, English-language training, and other science related topics.
The Director-General of TICA encouraged the Angolan side to maximise the use on TICA’s available scholarships through the Annual International Training Courses (AITC) and the Thailand International Post-graduate Programme (TIPP) covering 6 themes namely Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), Agricultural and Food Security, Climate Change and Environmental Issues, Public Health, BCG Economy and SDGs related areas. She also informed another fellowship opportunity through TICA and JICA’s Third Country Training Programme on “Rice Production Technologies for Food Security and Sustainability of African Countries”, which will be organized in Thailand in this August for the Coalition for African Rice Development (CARD) member countries including Angola.
The Angolan Ambassador expressed his great appreciation to the Director-General of TICA and his wish to continue further coordination and acheive concrete development cooperation between Thailand and Angola.
