On 21 June 2023, on behalf of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director – General of TICA received an award from Dr. Tares Krassanairawiwong, Director – General of Department of Disease Control for their Invaluable support on disease prevention and control at the International level at the Department of Disease Control , Ministry of Public Health.

TICA and the Department of Disease Control has been working closely together on the implementation of various development cooperation projects in public health including, disease surveillance, control and prevention, referral system between the two provinces through the establishment of Twin Hospitals along the border areas. In addition to this, the cooperation was strengthened during the COVID-19 pandemic when the two organisations joined to fight against the pandemic by implementing several activities in neighbouring countries based on a belief that “nobody is safe until everyone is safe.” Currently, TICA and the Department of Disease Control are working together on triangular cooperation with USAID in coping with Malaria and HIV/AIDS in lower mekong subregion.
