On 1 December 2021, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of TICA welcomed Mr. Reinhold Elges, Country Director of GIZ Thailand and Malaysia, Dr. Ulf Jaeckel, Head of Division of Sustainable Consumer Protection, Product-related Environmental Protection, German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU), and Mr. Alexander Raubold, Counsellor (Economic and Commercial Affairs), the German Embassy in Bangkok, at Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), the Government Complex.

Recognizing Thailand’s role as Germany’s strategic partner in development collaboration in Southeast Asia, both sides focused discussion on promoting bilateral and regional development cooperation between Thailand and Germany and reiterated the importance of cooperation on climate change issues,

On the occasion of 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany in 2022, they further explored the possibility of expanding the cooperation to cover trilateral and regional modalities, including under the third pillar of Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) framework. Areas of cooperation include important sectors such as waste management and recycling, water resources management, building upon Thailand’s application of BCG Economy Model and SEP for SDGs.
