The closing ceremony: “Thai Language for Communication” Short-Term Training Program to personnel in Cooperation for the Development of Neighboring Countries and others, 2025

On 19 September 2025, Ms. Pin Sridurongkatum, Secretary of the Department, Thailand International Cooperation Agency, attended the closing ceremony: “Thai Language for Communication” Short-Term Training Program to personnel in Cooperation for the Development of Neighboring Countries and others, 2025. On this occasion, she delivered the remarks and presented certificates to Thirteen participants from six countries: Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Mongolia, Bhutan, Kenya, and Nigeria. She was joined with Associate Professor Dr. Poom Moolsilpa, Vice President for Organizational Development and Special Affairs, Srinakharinwirot University, who co-presided over the ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by Associate Professor Supak Mahavarakorn, Head of the Program from Faculty of Humanities, Srinakharinwirot University, representatives from the Embassies in Thailand of the six participating countries, and representatives from Thailand International Cooperation Agency.

The program was a collaboration between Thailand International Cooperation Agency and Faculty of Humanities, Srinakharinwirot University. Conducted over nearly three months (from 1 July to 20 September 2025), the program enhanced participants’ ability to communicate effectively in basic Thai, while also providing them with knowledge and understanding of Thai culture and society both inside and outside the classroom. Through active learning approaches, participants gained authentic experiences in using Thai for daily communication and professional duties. In addition, the project promoted Thai soft power in language communication, strengthening Thailand’s cultural appeal and fostering closer relations between Thailand and the participating countries.

Participants from six countries shared their impressions of learning basic Thai language skills, singing Thai songs, experiencing Thai cultural traditions, and joining field trips to various sites such as the King’s Royally Initiated Laem Phak Bia Environmental Research and Development Project, the Temple of Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, the Ayutthaya Historical Park as well as study visits in Chiang Mai Province.
