On 27 November 2024, Mr. Paisan Ruapanichkit, Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) for Foreign Affairs, delivered an opening remarks at the Sixth Asia-Pacific Directors General (APDG) Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation held at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok.

The forum was co-hosted by the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) during 26-28 November 2024 under the theme “Resilient and Sustainable Urban Development through South-South Cooperation”

The forum aimed to promote knowledge sharing and best practices in sustainable urban development through South-South and Triangular Cooperation. It sought to develop guidelines for urban development cooperation and strengthen relationships among  ESCAP member states, which will be a significant foundation for continuing the development cooperation in the future. Over 102 representatives from 23 countries participated in the Forum.

In his remarks, the DPS emphasised the importance of creating to be liveable, safe, and inclusive cities. He also highlighted Thailand’s commitment to North-South and South-South partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
