Mr. Paisan Ruapanichkit, Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) for Foreign Affairs, led high-level delegations, including H.E. Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, Former President of the Republic of Fiji and Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), on a field visit to Benjakitti Park. Mr. Sunthorn Sunthornchart, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration was also present at the visit. The visit aimed to showcase Thailand’s commitment to resilient and sustainable development.

The field visit was part of DG Forum Directors General Forum co-hosted by Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) during 26-28 November 2024 on the theme “Resilient and Sustainable Urban Development through South-South Cooperation”

This field visit aimed to share knowledge and best practices in resilient and sustainable urban development. Benjakitti Park,  a prime example of integrating nature into the urban landscape, was chosen to illustrate how to balance urban development with environment conservation and mitigating flood risks.
