On 20 January 2025, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General, Acting Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), attended the opening ceremony of the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) on Renewable Energy Technologies and Knowledge Transfer for Strengthening and Achieving ASEAN’s Sustainable Development Goals at the Cattleya Meeting Room, Asia Airport Hotel. In this regard, Ms. KITAGAWA Yuki, Senior Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Thailand Office, and Dr. Patchara Maneesin, Deputy Governor for Research and Development for Sustainable Development of the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) as a representative of the organizing institution, jointly delivered opening remarks for the training program.
On this occasion, the Deputy Director-General extended a warm welcome to the participants and highlighted ASEAN’s shared goal of increasing the share of renewable energy to 23% of the region’s total primary energy supply by 2025. The Deputy Director-General emphasized that this course offers an opportunity to update the progress and exchange knowledge on renewable energy technology and policy development, and contributing to energy security and sustainability across the region. She also expressed gratitude to JICA, TISTR, and NSTDA for their continued cooperation in organizing the training courses.
This training course was jointly organized by TICA, JICA, TISTR, and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). It marks the third course under the current Record of Discussion between TICA and JICA, held from 20 January to 7 February 2025, with 15 participants from five countries, namely, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, and Thailand.
