On 24 February 2026, the Department of International Organization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand organized an event at the sideline of the 13th APFSD titled “The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy: a people centered development approach towards sustainable development and attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals”, where H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Ms. Niamh Collier-Smith, Resident Representative, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Thailand, delivered the opening remarks. On this occasion, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of TICA participated on the Panel Discussion that included panelists from UNDP, Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Deputy Director-General of TICA emphasized the importance of applying the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy as a guiding framework for international development cooperation, both in shaping policy directions and in implementing practices. She highlighted that the core principle of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, which places people at the center of development, is in line with the international concept of Sustainable Development.
