On 16 May 2025, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) organized the workshop on Exploring Potential Development Cooperation Areas between Thailand and Africa. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of TICA who delivered his opening remarks. The meeting and open discussion was moderated by Lt. Sorawud Preededilok, Minister attached to TICA.

The Workshop was organized as a part of the “Thailand Development Forum for Africa” under the theme "Application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainable Development" from 11–16 May 2025, attended by senior officials at the level of Permanent Secretaries or heads of development cooperation agencies—or their representatives—from 15 African countries, namely: Burundi, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia,  Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Somalia and Uganda.

During the brainstorming workshop, delegates exchanged views on current developmental challenges and expressed their interests to collaborate with Thailand in key sectors, including Universal Health Coverage system development, smart and sustainable agriculture, the application of SEP, and Urban Low-Income Housing Development, among others. At the end of session, Thailand affirms its readiness to be a development partner for Africa in all areas of mutual interest.

After the workshop, the delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, who also hosted a luncheon in their honour.
