On 4 August 2022, Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand delivered the welcoming remarks at the 12th IMT-GT Working Group Meeting on Human Resource Development (WGHRD) hosted by Thailand at Sukosol hotel, Bangkok.

In his remarks, he reaffirmed TICA’s role, as Thailand’s main coordinating agency in WGHRD, to continue support the work of WGHRD to reskill and upskill the workforce in IMT sub-region and enable them to access decent work and contribute to economic growth in IMT sub-region.

The Indonesia – Malaysia – Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) is a sub-regional cooperation initiative formed in 1993 by the Governments of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand with the aim of accelerating economic transformation in IMT sub-region.  Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) is designated to be the main agency in Human Resource Development, which is one of the seven key focus areas to produce significant economic and social impact on the  sub-region.

The 12th IMT-GT Working Group Meeting on Human Resource Development (WGHRD) hosted by TICA between 4 – 5 August 2022 in Bangkok. The meeting updated the progress from the 11th WGHRD, highlighted the specific directives for WGHRD from senior officials’ guidance at 15th Strategic Planning Meeting, identified the WGHRD projects under the new Implementation Blueprint (IB) 2022-2026 Strategic Framework as well as considered the Terms of Reference of WGHRD, WGHRD paragraph to be included in the 28th IMT-GT Ministerial Joint Statement and WGHRD report to the Senior Officials Meeting which will be held in Thailand in mid-September 2022.  On this occasion, TICA also arranged a study visit at Siriraj Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, Siriraj hospital for the IMT delegation as a showcase of Thailand’s good practice in public health sector.
