The inauguration of the Thailand-Kenya Agro-technologies Learning Centre

On 6 July 2022, Ms. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) virtually attended the inauguration of the Thailand-Kenya Agro-technologies Learning Centre, which was co-presided over by Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat Ambassador of Thailand to Kenya and Dr. Francis Owino, Principal Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Kenya, at the Kenya School of Agriculture (KSA) in Nyeri, Kenya. On this occasion, Director-General of TICA virtually gave opening remarks, so did Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, Doctor of Medicine, President of Khon Kaen University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Darunee Jothityangkoon, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University.

The Thailand-Kenya Agro-technologies Learning Centre has been set up by TICA, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Kenya, Khon Kaen University and KSA under the 3-year Project of Thailand-Kenya Sustainable Agro-technology Development (2022-2024). Its main objective is to promote capacity building for KSA’s agricultural staff and new generation of farmers through exchange of knowledge, and trainings by the application of Thailand’s agricultural technologies based on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP).

The setting up of this Centre also marks the celebration of the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Kenya.
