On 20th December 2021, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), received, on behalf of TICA, the 17th JICA President Award from Mr. TAKAHIRO Morita, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Thailand Office, who presented the award on behalf of JICA Headquarters. Also present were Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General of TICA and Mr. TAKEUCHI Kazuo, Senior Representative of JICA in Thailand. The presentation ceremony took place at TICA, Government Complex.

TICA was honoured by JICA for its strong and continued support to the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) Programme in Thailand throughout the past four decades. Moreover, Thailand was the first country which allowed JOCVs to return and resume their work in the country after the temporary evacuation back to Japan due to the global outbreak of COVID-19. This also reflected the confidence JICA has in the management of the COVID-19 situation in Thailand.

This year, the JICA President Award was presented to 42 individuals and organizations in Japan and internationally for their achievements and significant contributions to JICA’s international cooperation activities in developing countries.
