On 14 December 2021, Mr. Cheevindh Nathalang, Deputy Director-General of TICA, attended the Mekong Institute (MI) Council Meeting 2/2021, along with other Council members from P.R. China, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, ADB and New Zealand Aid Programme. The meeting discussed the technical cooperation activities implemented during the first half of 2021, focusing on Agricultural Development and Commercialization, Trade and Investment Facilitation and Sustainable Energy and Environment. The Council also endorsed MI Annual Work Plan 2022, which encompasses various development projects to serve regional cooperation and integration within the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS).

MI was formed by New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Thailand’s Department of Technical and Economic Cooperation (currently Thailand International Cooperation Agency) in 1996 to promote economic development and cooperation in the GMS.
