On 14 February 2023 Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) met with Mr. Carsten STAUR, Permanent Representative of Denmark to the OECD at OECD’s office. Mr. Rolf Schwarz, Senior Advisor, DCD/FOR., and Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General, were also present.

Mr. Staur welcomed DG.Ureerat and explained his interest in TICA’s implementation of trilateral cooperation, stating that he would like to learn more since it may be applied to the trilateral cooperation between EU and SIDS. He also informed that, currently, OECD attaches significant importance to SIDS, especially as concerns the issue of climate change and its impacts.

DG.Ureerat informed that despite not being a member of OECD or DAC, Thailand's ODA report has been submitted to OECD annually. She outlined Thailand’s experience related to development cooperation with Pacific Island countries and trilateral cooperation with other countries.

Both sides also exchanged their views and ideas on the effectiveness of development cooperation. In this regard, Mr. Staur confirmed his support for the dissemination of Thailand' s best practices and the standardizing of the ODA report, which will enhance Thailand's profile for OECD membership.

Mr. Staur will resume his duties as Chair of DAC in March 2023.
