On 10 September 2026, Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), attended the 3^rd Annual Meeting of the Emerging Development Partners (EDPs) at the United Nations Plaza in Almaty, Kazakhstan, upon the invitation by Kazakhstan Agency of International Development (KazAID).

The Director-General of TICA stated that facing limitation of resources, South-South and Triangular Cooperation is a vital mobilization mechanism for capacity building and promoting a more sustainable development. South-South Cooperation serves as a crucial platform for developing countries to work together. For Thailand, development cooperation should focus on partnership, mutual learning and benefit, and shared capacities among partners, as exemplified through the Thailand-Africa Initiative (TAI) and Thailand-Africa Development Forum (TADF).

Furthermore, the Director-General of TICA proposed a development framework that focuses on responding to the needs and priorities of recipient partner countries; elevates capacity building workshops to become tangible and scalable development projects; and promoting trilateral cooperation to combine efforts with all development partners, such was the case when TICA and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) together carried out development projects in Africa.

The Annual Meeting of the EDPs is a forum for development cooperation agencies of new providers from around the world to come together, with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) serving as the meeting’s secretariat, to determine the course of direction of South-South and Triangular Cooperation, expand and strengthen network, and exchange experiences. The 1^st Annual Meeting of the EDPs was held in Bali, Indonesia and followed by the 2^nd Annual Meeting of the EDPs in Armenia, Colombia.
