On 28 February 2024, Ms. Patchara Kosinanont, Director of Human Resources Development Cooperation Division of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Mr. Ryoichi KAWABE, Senior Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Thailand Office, jointly presided over the Handover of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs) Ceremony held at TICA, Government Complex.
A new batch of five JOCVs was handed over to the Office of the Basic Education Commission, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. They will work for two years in the fields of Welfare for Persons with Disabilities, Caring for the Elderly, Informaton Communication Technology, and Japanese Language Education respectively.
Following the hand-over ceremony, Director Patchara Kosinanont hold talks with Ms. SATO Hiromi, Volunteer Coordinator of JICA Thailand Office, about the work plan for Japanese FY 2024. Starting from 2024 onward, JICA will dispatch more JOCVs to work at Thai agencies considering Thailand’s safe environment, well- developed transport infrastructure and high-quality medical service. In addition, the plan will respond to demand from Thai agencies for JOCVs with diverse and specialized skills to support the capacity building of their organizations and personnel. The workplan will focus on three main areas - Industrial Human Resource Development; Sustainable Industrial Development of Rural Regions; and Assistance for the Socially Vulnerable.
