On 14 March 2023, Mr. Wattanawit Gajaseni, Deputy Director-General and Acting Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) met with Ass.Prof.Weerapong Phumratanaprapin, Dean of Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University and Mr. KAWABE Ryoichi, Senior Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Thailand Office, at TICA Meeting Room 4.

The meeting discussed the implementation of “the Project for Capacity Building for the Production of Antibody against SARS-COV-2” which is a Thailand-Japan Technical Cooperation Project (TCP), conducted from September 2021 – March 2023. Objective of the Project is to enhance research capacity of the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, towards production of new therapeutic antibody against COVID-19. JICA has provided necessary research equipment and organised remote workshops with short-term Japanese experts.

This Project is one of the three Thailand – Japan TCPs in Global Health Medicine Sector under the Programme for Emergency Support against COVID-19. The other two TCPs are implemented by the National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Medical Sciences, and Bamrasnaradura Infectious Disease Institute, Department of Disease Control.
