Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with the Department of Skill Development, through Trat Institute for Skill Development, organized a training programme under the Project on Capacity Building for Skills and Professional Development (Cambodia/Lao PDR/Myanmar) for Polytechnic Institute of Koh Kong Province during 9 - 13 September 2024. The training consisted of 3 courses that promote in-demand skills for Cambodia and align with Thailand's expertise: (1) Advanced Microsoft Excel (2) Professional Hotel Housekeeping and (3) Small Engine Mechanics for Agriculture, with 20 participants per course, totaling 60 participants.

On this occasion, Mr. Wattanawit Gajaseni, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Mr. Visanu Sawadisawanee, Trat Provincial Labour, and Ms. Prommongkol Wongboonfoo, Director of Trat Institute for Skill Development delivered speeches at the opening ceremony of the training on 9 September 2024 as representatives from the Thai side. Lady Mithuna Puthong, Governor of Koh Kong Province, and His Highness Prince Dr. Sisowath Rithyravong, Director of Polytechnic Institute of Koh Kong Province, representatives from the Cambodian side, expressed their gratitude to the Royal Thai Government for their support and jointly presented certificates to those who completed the training on 13 September 2024 at the Cambodian Red Cross, Koh Kong Province.

This project aims to enhance the capabilities of the workforce and Cambodian skills development Institutes to better meet the needs of corporations in border provinces on both the Thai and Cambodian sides. It is also expected to support the Special Economic Zones along the border and mitigate cross-border issues, including transnational crimes, drugs and human trafficking. Through development cooperation, the project will contribute to human resource development, promote economic security and boost border trade. Besides, it will foster relations between Cambodia and Thailand at both the governmental and people-to-people levels, paving the way for future cooperation.
