On February 17, 2025, H.E. Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), led a delegation that included H.E.Dr. Angela Macdonald, Australian Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Suzuki Kazuya, Chief Representative of JICA, Mrs. Pimwadee Sovaratanapong is the Deputy Director-General of TICA, Mr. Narut Soontarodom, Consul General of Thailand in Siem Reap, Mr. John Francis, Counsellor (Development) of Australian Embassy in Thailand, Ms. Kanokwan Singkal, Social Development and Human Security Officer of Sa Kaeo Province, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, to discuss and exchange of views with H.E. Mr. Nhek Vannara, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia at the Transit and Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Groups (TRC) in Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia.
One of the key activities of the TICA and Development Partners’ Initiative on strengthening the Transit and Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Groups (TRC) is the two days training for 25 Cambodian personnels which have been designed by experts from ASEAN-Australia Counter Trafficking (ASEAN – ACT) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) together with TICA to train the trainers with the skills and knowledge that focuses on victim-centered and gender-sensitive approaches to counter-trafficking in a way that protects and supports victims, and contribute to ending these modern-day challenges against humanity. The speakers are Mrs. Nurul Qoiriah, Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Victim Rights Director at ASEAN – Australia Counter Trafficking (ASEAN-ACT) และ Dr. Maki Kozakai, Project Coordinator Project Trust, JICA. This initiative is a collaborative effort between three parties: Thailand, Australia, and Japan, working together for the first time.
This initiative taken by the Royal Thai Government aims to join hands with development partners in taking active role in driving the fight against human trafficking and providing continued supports to victims and other vulnerable groups. This activity is a continuation of the project for the building of the Transit and Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Groups by the Royal Thai Government which was officially handed over by the then-Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to His Excellency Samdech Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, during his official visit to Cambodia on September 28, 2023.
