On 7 – 13 September 2025, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, organized a Study Visit and training program on Alternative Development (AD) at the Doi Tung Development Project in Chiang Rai Province.

The program was held for a group of experts from Colombia, with the objective of exchanging knowledge and best practices on sustainable community development through lectures, theoretical sessions, and experience-sharing by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation. The activities also included case studies on social business models, handicraft product development, environmental restoration, and integrated community development projects.

This activity serves as a concrete example of South-South Cooperation, where Thailand and Colombia jointly learned from and shared their experiences. It also represents a model of Two-Way Cooperation, aimed at generating mutual benefits and enabling the application of shared lessons toward sustainable development within the context of each country.

       The program was conducted under the project on Learning from Thailand’s Experience on Community Empowerment and Sustainability in Alternative Development, part of the Thailand – Colombia Development Cooperation Plan for 2025 – 2027.
