The Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Business Development (DBD) of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, recently hosted the training course on "Workshop on E-Commerce Development for Lao PDR.", during from 8-12 September 2025, which is part of the second phase of the three-year Thailand-Lao PDR Development Cooperation Plan (2023-2025), specifically under the Human Resources sector for 2025.

The workshop aimed to enhance the e-commerce capabilities of 15 officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The training also focused on utilizing digital technology and innovation to improve public services.

On 8 September 2025 (Opening Ceremony), Ms. Sudarath Unchaiya, acting director of Human Resources Development Cooperation Division and on 12 September 2025 (closing ceremony), Mrs. Arunee Hiam, the Deputy Director-General of TICA represented TICA in attending both the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony of the training course. Mrs. Auramon Supthaweethum, Director-General of the Department of Business Development presided over both events.

During the closing ceremony, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, the Deputy Director-General of TICA thanked the Department of Business Development (DBD) for organizing the course and also congratulated the Lao participants and The Deputy Director-General emphasized the importance of sharing Thailand's knowledge, experience, and development approaches in e-commerce. This exchange of ideas is intended to spark new initiatives among the participants, helping them drive tangible digital economic development in Lao PDR in the future.
