Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), organized a webinar series to exchange knowledge on bioenergy between Thailand and Colombia. The activity hosted by Thai side consisted of two sessions.
The first session was held on 26 March 2026 under the topic “Development of Biogas Technology and its Implementation in Agro-Industries.” Experts from KMUTT, together with invited speakers from Chiang Mai University and Prince of Songkla University, shared their experiences and knowledge on the development and application of biogas technology in the agro-industrial sector.
The second session took place on 21 April 2026 under the topic “Biomass and Solar Cell in Agro-Industries and Community-Based Area.” The session covered key topics such as Potential Thermochemical Conversion of Biomass for Energy Recovery and Biochar Production in Thailand, Empowering Remote Communities with Hybrid Pico-Hydro and Solar PV, and the Potential of Biomass in Thailand for Heat and Power Generation.
The webinar series focused on sharing Thailand’s experience in developing and applying biogas, biomass, and solar energy technologies in agro-industries and at the community level. Experts from KMUTT and related institutions presented practical examples of converting agricultural waste into renewable energy, promoting sustainable waste management, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The webinars also served as a platform for academic exchange. More than 30 participants attended both sessions, with active discussions throughout, reflecting the application of knowledge in both countries according to their local contexts. This will support the development of alternative energy and energy security in the long term.
This webinar series is part of the project “Bioenergy Bridges: Advancing Agricultural Sustainability and Rural Bioenergy Innovation through Thailand–Colombia Partnership,” under the three-year Thailand–Colombia Development Cooperation Programme (2025–2027). The project aims to promote knowledge exchange on bioenergy from agricultural residues and support its adaptation in both countries. It also aims to support rural energy transition, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and open burning, and promote the circular economy in both Thailand and Colombia.
