On 8–25 June 2026, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, organized the 2026 Annual International Training Course (AITC) on "AI for Science & Digital Innovation: Empowering International Economic & Social Transformation."

The training programme aimed to drive the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation in promoting and developing economic and social capacity, reflecting the promotion of science, research and innovation diplomacy (Science Diplomacy). The programme also aimed to advance Thailand's development cooperation, as well as to build academic networks between Thailand and other countries, in preparation to sustainably respond to new challenges and opportunities in the digital era.

The training brought together participants from 26 countries, including Azerbaijan, Bhutan, China, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mexico, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Qatar, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Throughout the programme, participants exchanged knowledge through lectures, hands-on workshops, field study visits, and drafting a Plan of Action.
