On 27 June 2016, Mrs. Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Director - General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), along with Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, Deputy Director-General of TICA, welcomed Mr. Martin Hart-Hansen, Deputy Resident Representative, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Thailand office who paid the courtesy call to her. Both sides also had a meeting discussion, gist as follows:
- The next United Nations partnership cooperation frameworks with Thailand (UNPAF 2017-2021) will include Public Private Partnership (PPP) and innovation for development. In this regard, UNDP had a discussion with related Thai agencies namely: Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The Country Programme Document - CPD for UNPAF 2017-2021 comprises 10 outputs in which output 9: National SSC Mechanism and Capacity for Development Resolutions. TICA is the main implementing agency of UNDP agrees that in applying the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy-SEP into international development is a means to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Mr. Hart-Hansen said that UNDP is willing to support the Policy Advisory including applying the SEP into the development policy which will particularly improve living quality of the grassroots and fostering Thailand released from MIC trap. UNDP can support by providing specialists/consultants to support Thailand South-South cooperation.
- TICA Director-General of TICA mentioned that TICA has mission to promote sharing knowledge and best practice of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy to the international community. In this regard, TICA collaborates with Key Thai agencies, for example Community Development Department, Thailand Sustainable Development Foundation (TSDF) and prominent educational institutions. In addition the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is producing a concept document how SEP connecting to SDGs.
- “TICA Connect” will be held in early August at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will be participated by the relevant agencies from the public and private sectors, educational institutions. TICA Director-General invites UNDP to join the event.
