On 16 – 18 December 2024, Lieutenant Sorawud Preededilok, Minister attached to Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), led a delegation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials from TICA, Department of East Asian Affairs, Department of Information, and the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs to discuss with Vietnamese government, private and academic sectors regarding development cooperation, and to follow up on the progress of development projects in Hanoi and Thai Nguyen Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

On 16 December 2024, the delegation paid a Courtesy Call on H.E. Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi. The Discussions centered on potential cooperation activities between Thailand and Vietnam to commemorate two significant milestones in 2025-2026: the 150th Anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2025 and the 50th Anniversary of Thai–Vietnamese diplomatic relations in 2026. Then Lieutenant Preededilok met with representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment to reiterate Thailand and Vietnam relations on trade and investment and explore opportunities to stregnthen development cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam.

Later, on 17 December 2024, the delegation visited Dong Tien and Dong Bong villages in Thai Nguyen Province, the implemented areas of the Project on Sustainable Community Development based on the Application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy by TICA, to follow up on the project implementation. The delegation also discussed and received feedback on challenging issues and areas where the villagers may need additional support. During project implemantation, Dong Tien village learned to develop community-based tourism while Dong Bong village learned to develop its tea product quality and price according to Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) standards to supply domestic market.

On 18 December 2024, the delegation discussed with Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Vice President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam the possibilities of potential cooperations with the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs and the International Studies Center (ICS), as well as universities in Thailand in areas such as personnel exchanges, training, and joint research.

Later, the delegation discussed with Ms. Tran Thi Thu Trang, Deputy Director-General of the Southeast Asia, South Asia and South Pacific of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam. The discussions covered potential cooperation to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Thailand-Vietnam diplomatic relations, partner prioritization of Vietnam, and ways to facilitate and assist Thai business operating in Vietnam.

In the afternoon, the delegation met with Mr. Nguyen Van-Trao, President of Hanoi University, where Thai language is offered as a minor program for Vietnamese students. Discussions covered the success of Thai language teaching program supported by TICA and potential future collaborations, including initiatives to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Thailand -Vietnam diplomatic relations. Besides, the delegation had a chance to observed Thai language classes and was warmly welcomed by faculty members and students.

Afterwards, the delegation visited the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC) Hoa Lac which has mission to play a key role in connecting the country’s domestic technology ecosystem with leading technology companies, provides training on technology to develop Vietnamese personnel, and offers support to Vietnamese startups.
