On 12 October 2022, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed H.E. Mr. Agostinho André de Carvalho Fernandes, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Thailand, with residence in Hanoi, on the occasion of his assumption of duty. Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division as well as staff from TICA and the Embassy of Angola to Thailand were also present at the meeting.

The Angolan Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Director-General of TICA for the meeting. He expressed interest in seeking Thailand’s technical assistance to Angola in needed areas for Angolan development including tourism, agriculture and innovation, financial management, education, public health community development and English-language training.

The Director-General of TICA expressed her appreciation for Angolan Ambassador’s recognition of the role of Thailand’s International Development Cooperation to Angola. She provided information to the Angolan Ambassador on TICA’s available scholarships through the Annual International Training Courses (AITC) and the Thailand International Post-graduate Programme (TIPP) covering 6 themes namely Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), Food Security, Climate Change, Public Health, BCG and SDGs’ related areas. She encouraged the Angolan side to maximise use of the said scholarships, for which further information can be found on TICA’s scholarships website. She also recommended the TICA and JICA collaboration training course on rice development under the Coalition for African Rice Development (CARD), of which Angola is a member.

The Angolan Ambassador expressed his great appreciation to the Director-General of TICA for Thailand’s technical assistance, particularly in terms of the human resource development that will be extended to Angola.
