Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency welcomed Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand

On 11 October 2022, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed H.E. Ms. Cecilia Z. Galarreta Bazán, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand, on the occasion of her assumption of duty. Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division, Mrs. Carmen Azurin, Deputy Head of Mission of Embassy of Peru in Thailand, as well as staff from TICA and the Embassy of Peru in Thailand were also present at the meeting.

The Peruvian Ambassador expressed her gratitude to the Director-General of TICA for the international development cooperation extended to Peru. She stressed the importance of the exchanges of knowledge and know-how between the two countries, which has inspired changes in Peruvian development, particularly in related areas such as public health and community-based tourism.

Both sides exchanged views on activities under the current three-year work plan in the sectors of agriculture, tourism, public health, and human resource development. They also discussed ways to enhance future development cooperation between Thailand and Peru.

To review the current work plan and discuss ways forward for the next three-year work plan, both sides agreed to conduct a joint Working-Group meeting before the end of this year.

In addition, they also discussed the possibility of cooperation under the Pacific Alliance Cooperation Framework, which the Peruvian side will hold the chairmanship next year, with soil and fertilizer management being among the topics for collaboration.
