On 28 April 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed H.E. Mr. Claudio Javier Rozencwaig, Undersecretary for Foreign Policy of Argentina, at TICA office on the occasion of his visit to Thailand to participate in the 5th Political Consultations and Bilateral Economic Consultation between Thailand and Argentina. Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of TICA, Ms. Chidchanok Malayawong, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division, and Mr. Gustavo Héctor Méndez, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Argentine Embassy in Bangkok, were also present at the meeting.
Both sides noted the success of Thailand-Argentina 3-year Development Cooperation Programme (2020 – 2022), in which Potential Enhancement for Sustainable Soybean Production and Utilization Project, Genetic Variability for Sugarcane and Ethanol Production Project, and Missing Migrants and Non-Identified Human Skeletal Remains: Exhumation and Analysis Skills Development Project were successfully implemented. Moreover, both sides also discussed ways to further promote future development collaboration and agreed to plan the next 3-year Development Cooperation Programme (2023-2025) to collaborate on previous development projects and on new development areas, such as livestock, renewable energy and bio-pharmaceutical, as well as exchanging experiences on various development sectors through online and webinar platforms.
On this occasion, the Director-General of TICA expressed the readiness of Thailand to host the 5th Planning Committee Meeting on Technical Cooperation between Thailand and Argentina within this year. In addition, the Director-General of TICA also invited Argentina to participate in upcoming events, such as the International Conference on Highland Alternative Development for the Inclusive Socio-Economic and Environmental Sustainability: From Vision to Action towards the SDGs, to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Project Foundation.
