On 17 July 2025, Mrs. Pimwadee Sovaratanapong, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), along with Mrs. Chachsaran Lertkiattiwong, Director of International Development Cooperation Division, and Mr. Saksayam Sawaengwaisayasuk, Director of the National Sports Training Centre Division, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), as well as officials from the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, participated in the handover ceremony of sports equipment. The handover activity is part of the Capacity Building for Sport Sciences on High Performance Sport (Elite Sport) Development Project, under the Thailand–Lao PDR Three-Year Development Cooperation Programme in the Education and Sports sector. The equipment was delivered to the National Sports Training Centre (Sikeut)) in Vientiane Capital for seven sports disciplines: Sepak Takraw, athletics, judo, cycling, taekwondo, boxing, and weightlifting, with a total value of THB 3,819,595. The handover was attended by Mr. Sijan Chittapanya, Director-General of the Department of High Performance Sports, Dr. Chanthawong Panyasiri, Deputy Director-General, Mr. Kingratana Thongsamut, Acting Director of the National Sports Training Centre, along with Vice Presidents and Secretaries-General of the seven national sports federations of the Lao PDR and relevant officials from both Thailand and the Lao PDR.

Following the ceremony, the Deputy Director-General of TICA presided over the Project Steering Committee Meeting on the Development and Improvement of High Performance Sports, with Mr. Sijan Chittapanya serving as the Lao co-chair. The meeting aimed to summarise project outcomes and discuss future cooperation in the field of sports.

The Capacity Building for Sport Sciences on High Performance Sport (Elite Sport) Development Project is designed to enhance the capacity of athletes and sports personnel in the Lao PDR by improving high-performance sports management and sports science systems to meet international standards. The initiative aims to prepare Lao athletes for regional competitions, such as the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) and the Asian Games. The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), through its Elite Sports Development Division, serves as the Thai implementing agency, while the Department of High Performance Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR, is the implementing agency on the Lao side.
