On February 4–5, 2025, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), organized a training workshop titled "TICA-OECD Training Course on Development Finance Statistics" at The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok. The event was officially opened by Mrs. Arunee Heim, Deputy Director-General of TICA, and Dr. Rolf Schwartz, Head of Global Engagement at the OECD’s Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD). Representatives from over 40 Thai ministries and relevant agencies also attended the training workshop.

This training workshop is a follow-up activity to the "Workshop on Development Co-operation: Strategic Planning and Programming", held on October 30–31, 2023, under the second phase of the Thailand-OECD Country Programme (CP2). The objective is to enhance Thailand’s capacity in statistical reporting and to strengthen cooperation between TICA and OECD. In the previous workshop, Thailand gained insights from the experiences of Germany, Canada, Australia, USAID/RDMA, JICA and KOICA.  As a result, Thailand has started implementing an integrated ODA Database reporting system, utilizing the TOSSD application to provide a comprehensive national report. Thailand aims to produce highly accurate statistical reports aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17, which focuses on strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development.

During the training workshop, participants learnt from lectures by Dr. Rolf Schwartz and two other OECD/DCD experts namely Mr. Aussama Bejraoui and Mr. Xavier Bryant, Policy Analysts, working on Statistical Standards and Methods at the Finance for Sustainable Development Division.  Additionally, participants engaged in discussions, experience-sharing, and hands-on exercises on statistical data collection through two breakout sessions which were “Reporting on Environment-Related Activities” and “Reporting Contributions to/through Multilateral Organizations".  This activity marks another step forward in strengthening cooperation between TICA and OECD in advancing development finance statistics and reporting.
