On 15 January 2024, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), met with Mrs. María del Pilar Garrido Gonzalo, Director for Development Co-operation of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in Paris, France. Both sides discussed the cooperation between TICA, the Development Co-operation Directorate (DCD), and the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) to promote Thailand's role in development cooperation with the OECD.

The Director-General emphasized Thailand's commitment to joining the OECD and TICA’s readiness to join the DAC as a “DAC Participant”. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved TICA’s proposal to join the DAC, and the process is underway to seek cabinet approval. In this regard, the OECD Director for Development Co-operation welcomed this progress and emphasized that the DCD, as the secretariat of the DAC, recognizes Thailand's proactive role as an emerging donor in South-South and Triangular Cooperation, and stands ready to support Thailand's engagement in the DAC, as well as its bid to join the OECD.

In this regard, both sides agreed to collaborate in promoting Thailand's role in the DAC and to jointly organise global and regional policy dialogue on international development cooperation, as well as to continue working closely together under the OECD-Thailand Country Programme, to promote Thailand's status and its bid for the membership of the OECD.
