On 21 August 2026, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Ms. Ji Heh Chun, Country Director, of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Thailand Office, jointly presided over the Handover Ceremony of the 169^th World Friends Korea (WFK) Volunteers. Besides, Mr. Komes Piyaphan, Inspector-General of Department of Skill Development (DSD); Mr. Saran Vajraphai, Director of Global Human Capital Development Group, International Affairs Division, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI); Ms. Usana Larbprasertporn, representative of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC); as well as the representatives from relevant universities, schools, and institutes. The event was held at Jubilee Prestige Hotel, Bangkok.

At the ceremony, seven (7) WFK volunteers were assigned to four universities, two schools and one institute; service in Korean Language Education and Art Education for one year. The host agencies are Chiang Mai Institute for Skills Development (Mae Rim, Chiang Mai), U-Thong School (U-thong, Suphanburi), Anuban Kamphaengsaen School (Kamphaengsaen, Nakhon Pathom), Naresuan University (Mueang Phitsanulok, Phitsanulok), Chiang Mai University (Mueang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai), Uttaradit Rajabhat University (Mueuang Uttaradit, Uttaradit) and, Suan Dusit University (Dusit, Bangkok).

The World Friends Korea (WFK) Volunteer Program in Thailand has served as a bridge of friendship between the two countries for over 3 decades. It has bridged Thai and Korean people closer and played a vital role in deepening people-to-people connectivity, as WFK volunteers work alongside their local counterparts, sharing knowledge and experiences in various fields, including education, agriculture, information technology, engineering, vocational education, and international development.
