The online training course on “Sharing Thailand’s experiences and best practices on adding value and using solid waste in tilapia farming production” Development Cooperation Program between Thailand and Colombia

On 4 September 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) gave an opening remarks through pre-recorded video for the online training course on “Sharing Thailand’s experiences and best practices on adding value and using solid waste in tilapia farming production” together with H.E. Ana Maria Prieto, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Thailand, Mr. Álvaro Calderón, Director of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Mr. Daniel Rodríguez, Director of South-South Cooperation of the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation of Colombia (APC – Colombia), and Assist. Prof. Dr. Methee Kaewnern, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University

The online training course on “Sharing Thailand’s experiences and best practices on adding value and using solid waste in tilapia farming production” is an activity under the development cooperation project entitled “Exchange of Expert on Mutual Interest for the Benefit of Both Sides on Fishery”, implemented under the 3-year Development Cooperation Program between Thailand and Colombia. The purpose of this training course aims to equip the participants from the Huila Government, Colombia, who are related in aquacultural field with technical and technological knowledge, waste management from fish farming production, techniques in improving tilapia value chain, and fishery products’ packing design. Furthermore, this workshop also offers an opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices in tilapia farming production between Thai and Colombian fish farmers

This online training course has been organized under the cooperation between TICA and Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University between 4 September and 3 October 2023. This is an opportunity for participants to exchange technical knowledge and best practices to adapt and develop their tilapia fish farming forward. The course is also to promote the Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model or “the BCG model”, especially on adding value in solid waste from tilapia farming production. Moreover, it strengthens Thailand and Colombia relations through technical cooperation and advances Thailand’s steadfast partnership with Colombia and commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 17: Partnerships For the Goals.
