TICA and UN Thailand Country Team Launched 3 South-South and Triangular Cooperation Development Projects at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok

On 27 March 2023, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) together with Mrs. Gita Sabharwal, United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC) Thailand jointly announced the launch of 3 South-South and triangular cooperation development projects. Joining the announcement in their capacity of being the contributors to projects were H.E. Mr. David Daly, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Thailand, Heads of UN Agencies in Thailand and esteemed officials from agencies concerned.
The announcement took place at TICA’s exhibition booth as part of the 10th Asia–Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), which will be exhibited during 27-31 March 2023 at
the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Bangkok.

Director-General of TICA expressed appreciation for the UN, and other development partners, including the EU for their efforts which made these 3 South-South and triangular cooperation development projects possible. These development projects are TICA’s contributions to the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between Thailand-United Nations 2022-2026. The Director-General of TICA emphasized the importance of
the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) as the foundation of TICA’s development works.  Furthermore, TICA’s development policy is centred on 4 securities areas which determine the well-being of the people namely, food, health, job, and energy and environmental securities,
as well as, the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model. The said guiding approaches of Thailand’s development policies will enhance development cooperation between TICA, UN, and other development partners.

The 3 South-South and triangular cooperation development projects between TICA
and the UN Thailand Country Team include (1) Enhancing Leadership in Global Health (ELGH)
by World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of Public Health (2) Collaboration on Reproductive Health and Midwifery Capacity Building by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA and Department of Health, and (3) ARISE Plus Thailand: Trilateral Cooperation on Sharing Knowledge and Best Practices in Organic Agriculture with ASEAN Member States by International Trade Center (ITC) and National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS)
