On February 10, 2025, H.E. Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), welcomed Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, together with Mahidol University officials, who paid a courtesy call on the occasion of his assumption of duty.
Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Directort-General of TICA, Ms. Chidchanok Malayawong, Director of Development Promotion and Coordination Division, Mr. Mongkol Siwaluk, First Secretary, and TICA staffs were also present at the meeting room 2, TICA office.
Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue reported on the progress of the TICA-Mahidol collaborative project on MFA – MU Capacity Building for Medical and Health Science Education Hub. This project involved a series of activities, workshops, and seminars aimed at enhancing the capacity of Thai medical personnel and transferring Thailand's expertise to other developing countries in the region.
Both sides discussed ways to promote Thailand's medical diplomacy through capacity building and human resources development cooperation for both medical personnel in Thailand and in target countries in the field of health sciences. They also explored the transfer of Thai expertise to other developing countries, especially in target countries such as Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Nepal. Furthermore, both sides discussed the possibility of expanding such cooperation to the Middle East and South Asia. Under the MFA - MU Enhancing Thailand Capacity Building Hub project, which is a collaboration in the second phase, there will be a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the President of Mahidol University and the Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency at the first opportunity.
On this occasion, H.E. the Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency expressed his readiness to support and collaborate with Mahidol University to exchange best practices and promote closer cooperation between Thailand and countries in the Middle East and South Asia.
