Webinar on Coffee Knowledge Exchange between Thailand and Colombia

Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), in collaboration with Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University, Presidential Agency for International Cooperation of Colombia (APC-Colombia), and the Colombian institutions and universities specializing in coffee, organized a Webinar on Coffee Knowledge Exchange between Thailand - Colombia. This activity was part of the project “Training on the Sustainability of Arabica Coffee Production in Thailand” under the 2025 – 2027 Thailand–Colombia Development Cooperation Plan.

The objective of the Webinar was to enhance knowledge, understanding, and the exchange of both academic and practical experiences in the coffee sector through four key topics as follows:

1. Coffee Value Added and Waste Management – presented by the Tea and Coffee Institute, Mae Fah Luang University, on 29 May 2025,

2. Sustainability, Innovation and Added Value in the Colombian Coffee Ecosystem: Experiences from TECNICAFÉ-FUP – presented by TECNICAFÉ-FUP (Coffee Research Institute) on 2 June 2025,

3. Coffee Processing and Innovation: Exploration of New Techniques and Added Value – presented by Cauca University on 5 June 2025, and

4. Processing and Innovation of Tourism: Coffee Cultural Landscape, Quality, Certifications, Sustainability Standards, and Product Design – presented by Libre University and Villa Laura Coffee on 11 June 2025.

As a result of this activity, both sides were able to develop knowledge and exchange techniques in coffee industry development, which is a high-potential sector for driving the modern economy efficiently. Moreover, this initiative also strengthened South–South Cooperation.
